The Supreme Court on January 19 rejected a plea seeking urgent hearing on a PIL to cancellation of the Censor Board’s certificate granted to controversial Bollywood movie Padmaavat. A bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justice A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud said, “We have to function as a constitutional court. Can't block a movie from screening,” said a bench of the apex court. Won't re-hear the case. We have rejected even states’ objections and have decided that a ban isn't permissible."
